An eye exam is fast, finished in under an hour, and provides us important insight into your eye health.
Ocular diseases often develop without obvious symptoms (such as pain or sudden vision loss), meaning that they generally develop unnoticed for months or years. Our comprehensive eye exams detect signs of developing eye diseases early in their development, enabling us to properly treat and manage them with minimal vision loss.
Remember, in most cases, vision lost to an eye disease cannot be restored. We place our emphasis on preservation and protection in order to ensure you enjoy many years of excellent vision.
Most eye exams are completed in under an hour. Due to our use of advanced imaging and diagnostic technology, our eye exams are non-invasive and completely pain free while also being extremely accurate.
Thanks to our use of modern diagnostic and imaging technology, such as high-resolution cameras that take detailed photos of your retina, we can learn more about your eye health than what was possible just 5 or 10 years ago.
A benefit of our technology use is that our eye exams are non-invasive and pain free, with the entire exam usually completed in 45 minutes or less.
Visual Effects is proud to offer Optomap, which is an ultra-widefield retinal imaging device. This unique piece of technology allows your optometrist to view more of your retina in a single image, making it easier for them to detect subtle changes that may indicate eye disease or another serious condition is forming.
To help safeguard your vision, all Visual Effects senior eye exams, which are covered by the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan, now include complimentary optomap imaging.
Alberta Health provides annual financial coverage for a standard eye exam, as well as any test deemed necessary by the Optometrist, for all Albertans age 65 and older.
